As its second name implies, peau de soie is similar to satin but with a denser structure. It has a medium weight and a soft feel like satin but a little harder which makes it ideal for a wide variety of designs on dresses. The fact that it is not as shiny in comparison to satin or charmeuse makes it look like a more matte fabric. This does not deprive it at all of the atmosphere of luxury and aristocracy.
Taffeta is similar to dupioni in weight and structure
This particular fabric is vibrant and somewhat heavy making it hold its shape very well. However, the biggest difference between the two textiles comes from the different processing during the finishing procedure Their differences are in the appearance and feel of these two fabrics.
